1.
You can write about practically anything! Last year’s titles included The Pirates Sail the Seven Seas, My Stinky School Bus, Snake ABC Book, Koala Facts For Kids, The Greatest Game Ever Played and Emily’s Fairies.
You can make a book of poems, tell a story you thought up yourself, write about something that happened to you, or share your knowledge of sports, or nature, or history, or…. like we said – practically anything!
We’ll help you through each step. You turn in your story to your teacher. Then, you’ll meet with a Challenger volunteer once a week for 3-4 weeks. Together, you’ll choose materials for your book, decide on how your pictures will look and talk over all the decisions that will make your book great!! When your book is finished, your Challenger volunteer will present it to you in your classroom. A copy of your book will be placed in the library for other McAuliffe students to read as well.
As the school year goes on, more and more students want to become Challenger authors. Because we have only a certain number of Challenger volunteers, our book output is limited. NOW is the time to begin your project.
So don’t let “the don’ts” slow you down. Do be creative. Do use your imagination. Write your first best seller! Then turn it in to your teacher.
Soon, you too will join our list of distinguished Challenger Authors!!
If you have any questions please call Kelly Wyant at 469-293-5504 or email at kellynstevew@aol.com
