you arrive at school before the 7:45 a.m. bell, all students will go to the

Teachers and staff will be on hand to supervise them during this time.

LUNCH
Students are asked to stay in their seats at
all times. If they need assistance,
they may raise their hand and an adult will help them. Parents are welcome to enjoy lunch with
their child; however, they must eat at a designated guest table. They may not invite a friend to eat with
them. Students may not share their
lunch with other students.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Parents are also invited to volunteer as a
room parent, assistant room parent, or in the many other outstanding programs
offered. A PTA Volunteer packet is
included in this folder.
Room Parent selection is held at the
beginning of the school year for those interested. Those dates and times are posted on the doors throughout the
building.
All volunteers must have completed a criminal background
check before volunteering in any capacity.
More
information for background check is included in this folder.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I COME TO THE SCHOOL?
For the protection of our students all
visitors must report to the office upon entering the building.
Sign In Procedures: There will be a 3 ring notebook with
appropriate places to sign in i.e. visitor, volunteer, signing out student,
etc.
Sticker: Please wear a sticker if you will be in the
school volunteering (PTA, classroom, lunch duty, etc...) or having lunch with your child. This is for easy identification throughout
the school.
Dropping Off
Items: If you need to give your child a
message, medication, homework, lunch, supplies, etc., please go to the office. Fill in the information on the clipboard on
the counter and leave your items. A
member of the staff will deliver your item.
Interrupting class hampers valuable instructional time. Also, standing in the hall watching or
waving to your child may be disruptive.
Sign
out: Please don’t forget to sign out in
the office when you leave.

COMMUNICATION
Where do I find information about the school
activities, classroom information, teacher’s notes, etc…?
Marquee:
School events will be posted on the marquee at the front of the school.
Newsletter:
A school newsletter will come home in the student’s folder
periodically. Additional copies of the
newsletter will be in the office by the door.
McAuliffe folder: Always check your child’s folder for information and notes from
the teacher. This is also a good way
to send notes back to the teacher.
Mailboxes:
All teachers and staff have a mailbox in the office. Please feel free to send notes or messages
to a teacher. We do ask though that
only adults use the mailboxes, no students please.
School notes: Each teacher has their own page for class information and
notes. Also a great way to email you
teachers! http://www.schoolnotes.com/edgate/find.php
Please remember, that if you send any notes
home to students requesting items for parties, or asking for a classroom
roster, don’t forget to get it approved by the principal first. Also, birthday invitations should be mailed
to the child’s home unless it’s an entire class being invited.

EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY (ESD)
ESD is the after school program located in
the cafeteria. You may contact
Community Education at 972-219-0086 if you are interested in this service.
PARKING

You have several options for parking. If you are coming during the school day, you
may want to look for a place in the front loop. That is the area outside the front of the building by the flag
pole. The area on the left, closest to
Briarhill Blvd., is for parking. PLEASE
DO NOT park in the fire lane (closest to the school). The Highland Village Police Department will ticket you.
You may also park in the large lots to the
south of the building.
The driveway that circles the building is off
limits at all times except for buses, daycare vans and parents of special
needs students who are instructed to use this lane.
DROP OFF & PICK UP
At the beginning of
each year and on rainy days, this is always a challenge. However, throughout most of the school year,
it is relatively painless in the morning and usually takes less than 15 minutes
in the afternoon.
FRONT LOOP: All
students may be picked up or dropped off at the front loop. Students should enter and depart the
vehicles on the right side. No
students should ever enter or depart a vehicle into traffic. Parents should remain in the car during this
time, unless the car is in a parking spot.
SOUTH LOOP: All students may use
this area also. They should also
refrain from entering or departing into oncoming traffic. Parents should also remain in the car unless
they are in a parking spot.
CONTINUE TO MOVE ALL THE WAY FORWARD during the drop off
and pick up time. If you must watch
your child enter the building, please do so from a parking spot, not the drop off
& pick up lanes. This keeps the
traffic line moving.
